The outbuildings
The property was originally a working farm. As such it has a number of outbuildings and some less attractive features. Although, the outbuildings and paddock offer a lot of scope for ideas and dreams, some late night wine fuelled thoughts have included equine, dog breeding, motor home/caravan storage, small holding, festival venue, recording studio, spa treatment rooms, brocante/antique dealing etc.
The list is not only extensive but imaginative!
We have had a trench dug to plant a 20m long hedge to screen the 'agricultural' buildings from the house and garden, thus making the house more separate from the outbuildings.
The Paddock is certainly big enough to make you self sufficient.
The outbuildings include:
Large stone built barn, part of which forms the extension to the house. The remaining area is approximately 10m x 10m and is on two floors. We had intended to convert the upper floor to a large indoor games area. This barn is in really magnificent condition.
Stone built ‘Fournil’ (bread oven) - see the picture. Very pretty, would convert into a self contained holiday studio if required. We house all our tools here.
Large steel framed barn with terracotta block infill. (15m x 10m).
An unattractive but nevertheless very useful structure with a variety of uses. Possible very large workshop or furniture store?
Small, block built, barn suitable for poultry etc. (We intended to accommodation for dog breeding purposes).
Large steel framed hanger (35m x 7m).
Along the whole of the rear of the house and barns (and out of sight) is an enormous hanger which could be used for loose boxes for horses. This hanger is at present full of building debris and tree parts from a large tree taken down at the front of the house.
